: People's Welfare Front today urged Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy to seek a vote of confidence through special a special Assembly session in the wake of recent political developments in the Union Territory.
Puducherry State CPI committee secretary R Viswanathan told reporters that recent developments like ruling AINRC legislators revolting against the CM a few days before the Rajya Sabha poll demanded that he seek vote of confidence.
Viswanathan alleged that the fiscal crisis was so serious that government was diverting funds from accounts of Employees Provident Fund, the Special Component plan meant for welfare of Scheduled Castes and other corporate bodies.
He also charged that flood relief for all ration card holders was not properly available. There were families with no bank accounts and so the relief of Rs 4000 for them could not be transferred to them, he said.
Special camps should be held to bring unbanked villages into bank accounts so the direct benefit transfer system for flood relief could be operated without any hassles.
He also questioned the 'delay' in invoking Civil Service Officers Conduct rules against a Special Secretary to Education G Ragesh Chandra against whom CBI had filed chargesheets in a local court for his alleged involvement in a land scam some years ago here.
Viswanathan charged the NDA government with letting down the government without sanctioning adequate funds. "The CM is also not making any effective representation to the Centre for release of funds', he said.
Front Leaders from CPI(M), MDMK, VCK and Revolutionary Socialist party were also present.
