Select base metals drop on selling, brass firms up

Prices of copper, tin and nickel dropped at the non-ferrous metal market here today on stockists selling amidst subdued offtake from industrial users.
While, brass prices gained further on sustained stockists buying following good demand from consumer industries.
The industrial metals edged up at the LME in early trade but was still set for its third straight weekly loss as seasonally strong demand from China passes its peak and on concerns about the pace of growth in the world's No 2 economy.
Copper cable scrap and copper wire dipped by Rs 6 per kg to Rs 480 and Rs 508 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 486 and Rs 514.
Copper scrap heavy declined by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 472 from Rs 476. Copper utensil scrap fell by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 445 from Rs 448.
Copper armiture, tin and nickel moved down by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 461, Rs 1,588 and Rs 1,212 from Rs 463, Rs 1,590 and Rs 1,210, respectively.
However, brass utensils scrap shot up by Rs 12 per kg to Rs 340 as against Rs 328 yesterday.
Brass sheet cutting advanced by Rs 8 per kg to Rs 358 from Rs 350.
Copper sheet cutting and aluminium utensils scrap inched up by a Re per kg to Rs 461 and Rs 131.
