The prices of select edible oils firmed up at the oils and oilseeds market during the past week on increased buying by vanaspati millers and retailers for the ongoing marriage season.
However, groundnut and sesame oil declined on adequate supply.
In the non-edible segment, castoroil found fresh buying support from consuming industries and ended higher.
Traders said increased buying by vanaspati millers and retailers to meet ongoing wedding season demand against restricted supplies mainly led to rise in select edible oil prices.
In the national capital, mustard expeller (Dadri) and cottonseed mill delivery (Haryana) oils rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 7,300 and Rs 6,300 per quintal, respectively.
Soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils also moved up by Rs 50 each to Rs 7,550 and Rs 7,350 and crude palm oil (ex-kandla) traded higher by the same margin to Rs 5,750 per quintal, respectively.
Palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (Kandla) oils followed suit and shot up by Rs 100 each to Rs 6,900 and Rs 6,550 per quintal, respectively.
On the other hand, groundnut mill delivery (Gujarat) and sesame mill delivery oil fell by Rs 100 and Rs 300 to Rs 7,400 and Rs 9,600 per quintal, respectively.
In the non-edible section, castor oil rose by Rs 50 to Rs 9,500-9,600 per quintal, while linseed and neem oil, after moving in a narrow range in limited deals, settled around previous level of Rs 7,400 and Rs 5,300-5,400 per quintal, respectively.
