Select pulses remain weak on subdued demand

Select pulses led by arhar fell by up to Rs 300 per quintal per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today owing to slackened demand from retailers.
Traders said fall in demand from retailers at current levels against adequate stocks position amid government measures to check rising prices mainly kept pressure on select pulses prices.
Meanwhile, the government yesterday directed procurement agencies, including NAFED, to buy tur, urad and moong directly from farmers in all producing states for creating buffer stock to supply lentils at cheaper rates and ensuring support price for growers.
In the national capital, arhar and its dal dara variety fell by Rs 300 each to Rs 6,600 and Rs 9,300-11,000 per quintal, respectively.

Moong and its dal chilka local drifted lower by Rs 300 each to Rs 4,700-5,200 and Rs 5,200-5,600 per quintal. Its dal dhoya local and best quality traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 5,600-6,100 and Rs 6,100-6,300 per quintal.
Urad and its dal chilka local moved down by Rs 200 each to Rs 8,000-9,100 and Rs 8,200-8,300 per quintal. Its dal best quality and dhoya enquired lower by the same margin to Rs 8,300-8,800 and Rs 8,700-9,000 per quintal.

Moth and kabli gram small variety also declined by Rs 200 and Rs 300 to Rs 4,200-4,600 and Rs 8,800-9,200 per quintal respectively.
