A day after Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announcedthat heli-taxi sevices would be run between Chandigarh and Manali as well as Manali and Rohtang, Chief Secretary Vineet Chawdhary and other officials today visited Rohtang for selection of feasible sites for landing of choppers.
Suitable sites have been seen and identified at Rohtang and its adjoining areas for landing of heli-taxis and one of the identified sites would be chosen and the helipad would be constructed after completing all formalities," said Chawdhary.
A team of Civil Aviation department of the Union government would visit Kullu, Manali and Rohtang next week to finalise the heli-taxi landing sites, he added.
He said the of heli-taxi services would ease traffic congestion and reduce the driving time by eight to ten hours for going to Rohtang from Manali.
