M Babu Rao (56) was nabbed from his house here when he was trying to sell fake diamonds.
"Police seized 97 fake diamonds from Rao's possession, which he claimed are genuine before needy customers," ACP (Panjagutta division) M Venkateswarlu said.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Rao had also claimed himself as a member of the Press Council, Indian American Council and the Human Rights (Commission), he said.
The officer said Rao used to show fake cards in name of the aforesaid agencies to gullible public.
