NCP today said the Shiv Sena-BJP combine is gripped by "fear" on realising that they are losing their ground and there is no anti-incumbency against the ruling Democratic Front government.
NCP spokesman Nawab Malik said recent friction between Shiv Sena and BJP after some BJP leaders met MNS chief Raj Thackeray, is the fallout of this fear.
"Congress and NCP have a strong tie-up in Maharashtra, whereas Sena-BJP is losing support on ground and they have realised this and hence are in fear," Malik told reporters here.
Referring to former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari's recent meeting with Raj Thackeray in which he asked the MNS chief against fielding of candidates in Lok Sabha polls, Malik said the BJP was looking for excuses to dump its ally Shiv Sena as it has become a spent force.
"...Past history of BJP shows that it is known to dump weak allies and look for new ones," Malik said.
To a question on a Third Front coming into being in the state including MNS, Malik said all parties have right to contest elections.
"The proposed third front is an internal matter of MNS. However, we are confident that voters will take a right decision at the ballot box," he added.
