The youth, identified as Raunak Khosla, yesterday committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in his room at his residence in sector-16, police said.
Raunak is son of Rupinder Khosla, who is former acting advocate general of Punjab and former acting assistant solicitor general of India.
His mother Mohanmeet Khosla is an associate professor at School of Communication Studies, Panjab University.
He had returned to India a few months ago from USA after completing his studies, they said.
Inspector Uday Pal ruled out foul play in the incident and said that the postmortem will take place tomorrow.
