Assistant inspector of Mumbai crime branch Adate said the accused Vishal Nigam was working on an important post in a Chinese mobile company having its office in Wasi area of Mumbai.
He said the company received an order of 11,000 handsets from a private service provider from Bhopal and Vishal was given the responsibility to deliver it.
Vishal, who hails from Lucknow, instead of delivering the handsets sold them in Delhi's grey market for Rs 2.3 crore and escaped after which a case was lodged at Wasi police station, Adate said.
During investigation the crime branch came to know that Vishal was hiding in Gonda after which raid was conducted and he was arrested from a hotel in Maharaniganj area last evening, he said.
Vishal was produced before the chief judicial magistrate, who sent him on transit remand.
