Ahmed, who is also the younger brother of TMC MP Sultan Ahmed, has been summoned for questioning on June 10.
This is the first time that CBI has summoned a TMC leader in the Narada case.
"Yes we have summoned Iqbal Ahmed for questioning, as his name has come up in numerous clippings of the Narada sting operation," a senior CBI official told PTI.
Iqbal Ahmed could not be contacted for a reaction.
Calcutta High Court in March ordered a preliminary inquiry by CBI into the Narada sting operation in which several TMC leaders, including state ministers, were purportedly caught on camera taking bribes.
A division bench of the high court noted that a report of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Chandigarh had said the tapes were not tampered with.
