Former Corporator Babloo Gurjar, a resident of Balramnagar extension colony, was shot dead in Loni area last evening, Circle Officer Arvind Kumar told reporters.

On the complaint made by Gurjar's son Avnish, a case of murder has been registered against seven persons, he said.

Out of the seven accused, three including Bheem Singh, Gyanendra and Subodh are currently in jail in connection with the murder of Gurjar's cousin Brijendra on December 23, last year, Kumar said.

Two other accused, Ramkishan and Ramkumar, who were also accused in the murder of Brijendra, were recently released on bail, he said.

According to Avnish, his father was killed as he was overlooking the case related to Brijendra's murder.

Two others identified as Vakeel and Sitaram, were also involved in the crime, he said.
