Seven inmates escape Mexico jail where six died

At least seven inmates escaped from a prison in northern Mexico, just days after six convicts were killed in a jailhouse fight, an official said.
An official in the Tamaulipas state prosecutor's office said authorities checked the list of inmates "and for the moment we are certain that at least seven have escaped yesterday."
On Sunday, six inmates were stabbed to death during a brawl in the same prison in Reynosa, a city bordering the US state of Texas. Three convicts are suspected of committing the murders.
Murders and mass escapes are recurring problems in Mexican prisons. In September last year, 132 prisoners escaped in Piedras Negras, a city in the neighboring state of Coahuila.

Organized crime groups control 60 per cent of Mexican prisons, according to the National Human Rights Commission.
