Seven labourers were injured when an under construction bailey bridge collapsed in Manipur's Jiribam district today, police said.
The bailey bridge was being constructed over Gorkhale river to connect Borberkra village to Jattarpur. At around 8 am this morning the bridge collapsed injuring seven labourers, they said.
The injured labourers were rushed to Borbekra health centre from where they were referred to a hospital in Silchar in neighbouring Assam, the police said.
District officials said the 160 feet long bailey bridge was being constructed by a private contractor and the project was being funded by the Rural Development Ministry under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
