Several achievements in Education sector in Jharkhand: Yadav

Jharkhand School Education and Literacy Minister Neera Yadav today said that several achievements have been made in the education sector in the thousand days of the completion of Raghubar Das government.
Several schemes like Mukhya Mantri Education Scheme, Smart Classes, Teachers samagam, bus services for schools and colleges have been started, Yadav told a press conference here.
She said giving quality education is the goal and they are heading with constructive thinking in that endeavour.
The minister said that the students now did not have to go outside for higher education as they would get the facilities in the state.
There has been an increase in the admission of students and very soon colleges and universities would start sessions, among which are Amity, AISECT, Usha Martin and Sarla University, she said.
Ranchi college is being upgraded into Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, she said.
In the last thousand days 45 colleges have been opened, among which 13 polytechnic, 32 degree colleges are included.
Jharkhand also began chancellor portal in which information has been given about all universities and colleges.
A decision has been taken to set up Centre of Excellence with the assistance of Singapore-based Institute of Technical Education, she said, adding very soon the work would begin. Under this yojana, skill training centre at Pundag in Ranchi would be created which would be completed in the next three years. Between 10,000 and 12,000 youth would be trained every year, she added.
The goal is not to make students book worms but to make them skilled, and under this the government has started "mera hunar aap".
Stress is also being given on business education in schools and colleges, she said, adding several vocational courses have started. Seats in engineering colleges have also been increased, she said.
