Reports reaching here said that one person died of intense cold in Hamirpur district last evening.
Met office sources said that night temperatures fell markedly in Bareilly and Meerut divisions, fell in Lucknow and they were below normal in Kanpur, Allahabad, Agra and Mathura districts.
The lowest temperature in the state was recorded in Najibabad at 3.4 degrees Celsius.
Met officials said that fog would occur till tomorrow over many parts of eastern and few parts of western Uttar Pradesh and cold wave conditions would also occur over few parts of the state during the next 48 hours.
They said that visibility would reduce to 200 metre or below in the morning hours over some parts of eastern UP during the next 72 hours.
