Shimla and its surrounding areas were lashed by severe hailstorm this afternoon. Shimla wore a deserted look as hailstorm forced people to rush indoors, while heavy rain in Solan disrupted normal life and caused landslides at some places.
Solan recorded 46.2 mm rainfall. Bhuntar also received 5.6 mm rain.
Minimum temperatures dropped marginally, and Keylong, Kalpa and Manali recorded a low of 6.5, 6.8, and 8.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
Bhuntar recorded a low of 15 degrees Celsius, followed by Shimla 16.5, Solan 18, Sundernagar 18.1, Dharamsala 18.6, Una 22 and Nahan 23.4 degrees Celsius.
The MeT office has predicted rain or snow at isolated places in higher hills for six days from tomorrow and rain or thunderstorm in mid- and lower-hills from May 15 to May 18.
