Police today carried out raids at the offices and residences of some leaders and workers of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) in various parts of the state as it intensified efforts to nab those allegedly involved in the killing of an SFI leader.
Several workers and leaders of the Campus Front, SDPI and their parent outfit Popular Front of India (PFI), have been reportedly taken into preventive custody by the police following raids carried out in various districts as part of the investigation into the case.
The police is also investigating the role of radical elements, participated in a march organised by SDPI towards the Kerala High Court last year, in the killing of 20-year-old Abhimanyu.
Activists of the pro-Islamic outfit had organised the march to the high court last year to protest against a judgement in a case of "love jihad".
Police have also issued look out notice against the prime accused in the murder of Abhimanyu.
Meanwhile, Kerala Police Chief Loknath Behera said the people from outside were involved in the killing of 20-year-old second-year degree student Abhimanyu.
He said the involvement of people from outside shows a plan in executing the crime at the Ernakulam Maharajas College campus.
Behera warned against the forces trying make the college campuses in the state a battlefield.
Three workers of the PFI and the Campus Front have been arrested so far in connection with the incident, police said.
The SFI leader was a resident of Vattavada in Idukki district and also a member of the organisation's Idukki district committee.
