The 49-year-old "Happy New Year" actor will be seen playing the role of both a superstar and his fan in the movie produced by Yash Raj Films.
"Woke to a message from Team Fan after they watched the film. I am relieved that my life has not just been a breathing exercise. Thanks and love Maneesh," the actor tweeted.
Shah Rukh had earlier thanked director Maneesh Sharma for making him rediscover himself with the movie.
The teaser of Sharma's project, who lived with the idea for eight years, was released earlier this year.
The clip featured the actor doing his signature arms open pose and a fan impersonating the superstar during a performance in front of his home crowd.
Also starring Waluscha De Sousa, "Fan" will hit theatres on April 15, 2016.
