"Sonia ji, in your (Congress) regime, who handed over mines to corporates? The BJP government conducted auction of coal mines and gained Rs 2 lakh crore. Rs 1,09,000 crore was raised through spectrum auction. Now all this money is going to be used for the relief and welfare of the farmers of the country," he said at a party workers' rally here.
BJP had brought Sonia's son-in-law in the line of fire following allegations that he had acquired land in Haryana and Rajasthan through dubious means, a charge flatly denied by him.
Shah said that the opposition parties were carrying out propaganda against the Modi government and their claims that BJP was not concerned about the situation of farmers was baseless.
He said that the government would not have gone for auctions if it was pro-corporate.
The Modi government is going to complete one year in office and there is not a single instance of corruption under it, said Shah, adding that neither was there any corruption in the BJP-ruled states.
He said that many decisions have been taken by the Modi government for the welfare and uplitment of the masses and the development of the nation, including schemes and programmes like the Jan Dhan Yojna, under which bank accounts for 14 crore families have been opened within a period of 11 months.
