The three-day 'Shaheedi Jor Mela', which is organised here annually to mark the martyrdom of the two sons of Guru Gobind Singh, commenced today with recitation of Guru Granth Sahib at Gurdwara Jyoti Swarup.
On the opening day of the three-day mela, lakhs of the devotees paid homage to the martyrs Baba Zorawar Singh, Baba Fateh Singh and their grand mother Mata Gujri Ji at Gurdwara Thanda Burj, where they were prisoned.
Devotees also paid tributes at Gurdwara Jyoti Saroop where they were bricked. Devotees also took dip in the sacred tanks adjacent to the Gurdwaras.
On the occasion, langars (community kitchens) were set up by the devotees.
