Residential developer Shapoorji Pallonji has been appointed the main contractor for a new medical centre based in Dubai Healthcare City.
The eponymous facility, which is being built for the client Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Group, will provide 175,000 square feet of internal space arranged over six floors with three basement levels for parking,
"It is an honour to have been appointed main contractor for such an important facility. Having built our first hospital in the UAE in 1980 in Abu Dhabi, we're proud that over thirty years later we continue to support healthcare in the market with the same diligence," said M D Saini, CEO of the Construction Division of Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd.
The 200 bed facility, which will feature an integrated centre for cardiac surgery, along with diagnostic clinics and a cardiac catheterization unit is expected to 'signal a massive shift in the UAE integrated health care industry,' according to a statement published on Dr Sulaiman Al-Habib's website.
It was also announced that Arif and Bintoak Architects and Engineers, whose previous projects include the Mohammad Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre, has been appointed as consultant.
Shapoorji Pallonji is a highly diversified conglomerate with interests in construction, real estate, textiles, engineering goods, home appliances, shipping, publications, power and biotechnology.
