The Home Ministry has asked Delhi government to provide details of alleged diversion by the then Sheila Dikshit dispensation of funds meant for SC/ST welfare projects to finance certain works for the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG).
According to Delhi government officials, Delhi Chief Secretary DM Spolia today held a meeting with Finance and SC/ST department officials in this regard.
The Home Ministry, in a letter to Delhi government, said that despite several reminders, receipt of the said information is still awaited.
Addressed to the Delhi chief secretary, the letter from MHA Joint Secretary (UT) IS Chahal, according to officials, states that the relevant information is required with regard to the annual report for the years 2012-13 submitted by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
This report is to be laid by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment before each House of Parliament along with a memorandum on the action taken or proposed to be taken on the recommendations and the reasons for non-acceptance, if any, of such recommendations.
It has been alleged that funds of around Rs 724.5 crore were transferred by the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress regime from the SC/ST fund to finance certain Games projects.
