With many areas of Patna still under waterlogging, BJP Lok Sabha member from Patna Shatrughan Sinha today took a round of the localities under rain water and slammed the state government for peoples woes.
Sinha, who is MP from Patna Saheb, took a round of waterlogged areas of Rajendranagar and Kankarbagh to see the progress of draining out of water.
He slammed Jitan Ram Manjhi government for peoples woes due to waterlogging and chance of outbreak of disease.
"The maha-gatbandhan (grand alliance of JD-U, RJD and Congress) is so busy in bypolls that it did precious little to clear rain water from major areas which threatens to result in 'mahamari' (epidemics)," Sinha popularly called as "Bihari Babu" told PTI.
"The government makes big claims of development but the fact is that it has failed to even provide necessary civic amenities even to the state capital Patna," Sinha said.
Accompanied by city MLAs, Arun Sinha and Nitin Navin, Sinha himself waded through water in Kankarbagh.
Amid cheers from people, he announced that if the state government failed to set up a pump house in Kankarbagh locality within a month as a solution to drain out water he would do so from his own fund.
Waterlogging in major areas of Patna since August 13 forced the Patna High Court to pull up the state government.
Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi assailed Patna Municipal Corporation for failing to drain out accumulated water which has paralysed life of people in major areas of the state capital.
Following snub from the CM, Urban Development Minister Samrat Chaudhary had to cancel his tour of England from today to work for draining out accumulated water.
