The work is aimed at enabling fast flow of traffic between the West Coast towns and the state capital.
Mangalore National Highway Division Executive Engineer C Nataraj said the work would be carried out in two phases. The first phase would be the 13.62 km stretch between Heggadde to Kempu Holey. The second phase of maintenance would be from Gulagalale to Heggadde (21 km) and from Kempu Holey to Adda Holey(12.38 km).
The meeting, presided by the DC, was attended by officials of PWD, national highways, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), police, Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (Mescom) and telecom departments.
The DC also directed the officials to request Railways to introduce additional passenger and goods trains between Mangalore and Bangalore during the period.
