Shiv Sena today said it smelt conspiracy in announcement by MNS chief Raj Thackeray that his party will support Narendra Modi for the post of Prime Minister and also contest the Lok Sabha elections.
"Raj Thackeray always indulges in double-speak. He also creates confusion among voters. Some elements who don't want Modi to become the Prime Minister have hatched this conspiracy," Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe said here while reacting to Thackeray's announcement.
She said the MNS president should have instead seen to it that there was no division of votes (between Shiv Sena and his party) which might benefit the Congress-NCP in Maharashtra.
In a shrewd political move aimed at queering the pitch for its arch rival Shiv Sena, MNS today announced its decision to contest Lok Sabha elections and pitted its candidates mainly from those constituencies which are to be contested by Sena, while virtually sparing BJP.
