Rawalpindi SHO Shiv Kanwal Singh was suspended by Kapurthala Police Chief Ravcharan Singh Brar after two men from Bihar escaped from his jail.
The two Suresh Kumar Yadav and Chhathu Nishat, arrested on August 9 with counterfeit Indian currency with a face value of Rs 49,500, had escaped from Rawalpindi police station after making a hole in the wall of their lock-up on August 10.
Three police personnel, including Duty Officer Sub-Inspector Sukhjinder Singh, Head constable Rajpal Singh and constable Harmesh Lal were suspended immediately after the incident.
Meanwhile, Brar had also ordered a departmental probe, to be conducted by Kapurthala SP(D) Baljit Singh Dhillon, into the incident.
