Show cause notice issued to a local newspaper

The Election Commission today issued a show cause notice to a local English daily here over an advertisement pubilshed in it in violation of Representation of the People's Act.
"We have issued a show cause notice to a local English daily in violation of the Section 134A of the Representation of People's Act," Ajeet Kumar Sahu, District Election Officer, Jammu, said.
He said the newspaper has been asked to explain its views on the violation, failing which action would be taken against the publisher.
Meanwhile, ruling National Conference had taken strong exception to the publishing of the "illegal" advertisement, and sought action as per law against the daily, published from Jammu.
