Silapathar attack: prime accused still at large

Prime accused Subodh Biswas, president of Nikhil Bharat Bangali Udbastu Samanway Samitee (NIBBUSS) and the main accused in the Silapathar incident, is still untraced, though all the other accused were arrested.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal who reviewed today the law and order situation at Silapathar in Dhemaji over the attack on an AASU office there on March 6 by NIBBUSS, gave orders to arrest Biswas at the earliest.
DGP Mukesh Sahay informed the Chief Minister about the clues found during investigation which would be vital in nabbing Biswas, an official release said.
He also informed that Nagpur and Kolkata police were alerted about Biswas.

It was decided in the review meeting that Bijan Mahajan would be appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor in the Silapathar case, the release said.
All the 37 other accused named in the FIR and found involved in the incident during investigation were arrested.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Mukesh Agarwal has been camping in Silapathar since March 7, a day after the incident, and would be there to carry on the investigation, the DGP informed Sonowal.
Last week, the DGP had announced a reward of Rs one lakh to anyone who would give any information leading to arrest of Biswas.

On March 6, NIBBUSS had organised a public meeting, followed by a march, at Silapathar in Dhemaji district demanding citizenship to all Hindu immigrants from Bangladesh. The attack on AASU office took place during the march.
