Silver prices moved down by 0.48 per cent to Rs 42,201 per kg in the evening session of futures trading today as speculators offloaded positions on the back of a weak global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), silver for delivery in September declined by Rs 204, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 42,201 per kg in a business turnover of 286 lots.
In a similar fashion, the white metal for delivery in December lost Rs 182, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 42,989 per kg in 256 lots.
Market analysts said offloading of positions by speculators in tandem with a weak global trend pulled down silver prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver fell 0.2 per cent USD 19.46 an ounce in London.
