Silver prices advanced by 0.25 per cent to Rs 34,182 per kg in futures trade today as traders increased their bets, tracking a firm trend overseas.
At Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March edged up by Rs 86,or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 34,182 per kg in a business turnover of 12,112 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month May traded higher by Rs 65, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 34,563 per kg in 165 lots.
Analysts said widening of positions by speculators on the back of a better trend overseas mainly led to the rise in silver prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver climbed 1.4 per cent in Singapore.
