Silver futures rise by 0.9% on firm global cues
Speculators widened bets amid a firming trend in precious metals overseas
Press Trust of India New Delhi Silver prices rose notably by Rs 299 to Rs 34,144 per kg in futures trading today as speculators widened bets amid a firming trend in precious metals overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December was trading higher by Rs 299, or 0.88%, at Rs 34,144 per kg in a business turnover of 496 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in March next year gained Rs 285, or 0.83%, to Rs 34,825 per kg in 21 lots.
Analysts said bets enlarged by speculators in tandem with a firming trend in precious metals overseas as the attacks in Paris reinvigorated bullion's traditional role as a haven and lifted silver prices in futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver was up 1.3% at $14.44 an ounce in Singapore.
