Sindhu, Gopi to be felicitated at 'Alai Balai' event on Oct 12

Rio Olympics silver medallist, shuttler P V Sindhu and her mentor and chief national Badminton coach Pulela Gopichand will be felicitated at the 'Alai Balai' programme organised by Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya here on October 12.
Dattatreya, who had conceptualised 'Alai Balai' programme, an apolitical forum to bring people from varied backgrounds on a common platform, has been organising this event to mark Dussehra festival for the past several years.
"We will be felicitating P V Sindhu, Gopichand and Sindhu's father P V Ramana besides G Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister, Malavath Poorna, the youngest girl to scale Mount Everest and several others including Vice-Chancellor's of different Universities at the 'Alai Balai' event on October 12," the Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment told reporters here today.

Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, Ananth Kumar, Nirmala Sitharaman, Y S Chowdary, Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, K Chandrasekhar Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu respectively, Telangana and AP Governor ESL Narasimhan and leaders of various political parties have been invited and they will participate in the programme, said the senior BJP leader and MP from Secunderabad.
Many stalls will be set up which will highlight the achievements of the Labour department, Dattatreya added.
'Alai Balai' is also popular for its traditional food delicacies.
