Sinha launches BSNL's Rs 330-crore optical transport network

Union minister Manoj Sinha today launched state-run telecom major BSNL's Rs 330-crore 100G Optical Transport Network (NG-OTN).
NG OTN is aimed at providing a 99.99 per cent uptime and will be covering 100 cities across the country, an official statement said here.
Network Operating Centre (NOC) has been made operational at Bengaluru for round the clock support. The project has already covered 45 cities and the remaining 55 will be done by March 2018, it said.

CREDAI launches skill training for construction workers
Real estate developers' apex body CREDAI today launched skill training for over 2,500 construction workers in 20 new Tier 2 and 3 cities across India.
The training will be conducted under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) 2.0 and PNB Housing Finance programme as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, said the Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Association of India (CREDAI) in a statement here.
CREDAI also launched an app, which will have credible and authentic data related to off-site skill trainings and placement accessible to both the trainees and developers to increase avenues for youth employment.

Metro corridor: Work on casting yards commences
Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), which is implementing the underground Colaba-Bandra-Seepz metro corridor, today said the work on casting yards on the seven packages has commenced.
MMRC said the launching shafts for the tunnel boring machines (TBMs) in Naya Nagar, Azad Maidan and Pali Ground are in advanced stage of completion and the tunnelling work will begin from October. The first TBM will be launched from the launching shaft at Naya Nagar.
