Sisodia inspects installation of CCTV cameras in three schools

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today visited three government schools to take stock of the installation of CCTV cameras and take feedback from the students.
"The pilot project of CCTV cameras has been initiated in three schools of Delhi. The state government schools at Mori Gate and two in East Vinod Nagar have started using the CCTV cameras, which were inspected by the minister.
"Sisodia asked students about how the CCTVs are going to be of help to them. Students told him that it will help them in being attentive in classrooms and some said that teachers will also be more attentive while taking classes," a Delhi government official said.

As per the government, there are 700 school buildings functional in the capital and around 70,000 CCTV cameras would be required to monitor each classroom.
The CCTV cameras will soon be installed in all classrooms of government schools in the national capital. The initial control of monitoring these cameras will be with the government authorities, including the Department of Education.
According to sources, there is also a plan in the long run to provide a secure access for parents to these cameras through a mobile application so that they can keep an eye on their children in the classroom and on the school premises.

"The project is wide and hence we are studying the expenditure and methodology of it. And once the study is completed, the government would go for a global tender for installing CCTV cameras in classrooms," the official added.
