The special investigation team (SIT) probing the 2015 police firing incidents at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan Wednesday recorded the statements of 12 police officials and 21 civilians at Faridkot.
The SIT members also interacted with the Sikh protesters who have been sitting on a dharna, demanding the arrest of those behind the police firing and sacrilege incidents in Faridkot in 2015, an official spokesperson said.
The investigation team met Sikh radical leaders Dhian Singh Mand, Baljit Singh Daduwal and Paramjit Saholi in connection with the incidents, he said.
The 12 police officials who were examined Wednesday at Faridkot were in the ranks of constables to inspectors.
The spokesperson said the police personnel questioned were among those who were deployed at Kotkapura Chowk on the fateful day of firing.
Several of them took part in the police action and some of them sustained injuries as well.
Pertinently, the names of these cops also found mention in the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report on sacrilege incidents.
The SIT will record the statements of 18 police officers in the ranks of SP and DSPon Thursday.
The Punjab government had set up the five-member Special Investigation Team to probe the police firing incidents at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan in 2015.
Two persons, Krishan Bhagwan Singh and Gurjit Singh, were killed in alleged police firing at protesters at Behbal Kalan following sacrilege incidents in 2015.
