Acting on an information that some criminals have assembled near Kapali bustee under Sonari police station last night, Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop T Mathew constituted a team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, (HQ 2) Amar Kumar Pandey, to arrest them.
Addressing a press conference here, Mathew said the team cordoned off the area near a Kali Temple in Kapali bustee and conducted the raid.
Six criminals, who were planning to commit dacoity, were arrested, he said adding, the police have seized two pistols, four country-made guns, 14 live cartridges of different bores and three mobile phones from their possession.
He said a case has been registered under sections 399, 400, 402 IPC and 25 (I-B)A/26/35 Arms Act against them.
