Six highway robbers arrested

With the arrest of six persons, police today claimed to have busted a gang of highway robbers who used to target people on National Highways 24 and 58.
Pramod Kumar, Nirdesh Tyagi, Mohammad Sadik, Abdul Sajid, Mohammad Najid and Mohammad Iqbal, all residents of Meerut district, were arrested last night, police said.
"We had received information that some robbers were targeting truck drivers and other vehicles on the two highway routes, said a senior police officer.
On a tip-off that the accused were coming to Nitikhand area of Indirapuram area late last night, a trap was laid and they were arrested, he said.
