Six of family killed as car hits roadside tree

Six members of a family, including a three-year-old girl, were killed and one injured when the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and hit a tree near Pallikkara in the district tonight, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Fathima (3), Sanira (18), Ramsheeba (19), Hyrunnisha (22), Shakeena (45) and Sajeer (26), Pallikkara SI V Jithesh said.
Three of them were killed on the spot while two others died on the way to hospital, he said, adding, one succumbed to injuries at a private hospital in Mangaluru.
The other injured is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Seven members of the family were on their way to attend an Iftar party when the mishap occurred around 7.30 pm near Pallikkara panchayat office after Sajeer lost control of the vehicle, he added.
There was slight drizzle at the time of the accident, he said.
