Six under police scanner for power pilferage

Enforcement teams of BSES Yamuna Power Ltd has filed police complaints against six person in East and Central Delhi for allegedly stealing electricity.
BYPL officials said 'spot FIRs' have been filed against the accused and two of them were arrested by police and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
In an inspection in Mayur Vihar's Trilokpuri area, BYPL enforcement team caught one Ranbir for allegedly stealing electricity.
After filing of FIR, police arrested Ranbir. Subsequently, he was produced before a Special Court of Electricity which remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days, said a BYPL official.
In another case, BYPL enforcement team detected direct theft in Central Delhi's Patel Nagar. One Gajendra alias Ganju was allegedly found stealing 71 KW of electricity. This is the third time, Ganju was caught stealing electricity.
First time he was caught stealing electricity in July 2005 and was penalised Rs 13.78 lakh. Then again he was caught stealing electricity in July 2006 and was penalised Rs 5.59 lakh, said the BYPL official.
An FIR was registered against Gajendra at Anand Parbat Police Station. The accused is absconding.
Three persons were booked for stealing power in Sonia Vihar area, the BYPL official said.
BYPL enforcement team caught Dharmendhra Chaudhary, Om Prakash and Jitendra Kasna stealing electricity. An FIR was registered against them at Sonia Vihar police station, the official said.
