As per data received for the year 2013-14, 7.89 per cent of minorities were recruited. As per data received so far from 69 ministries or departments for the year 2014-15, 8.71 per cent of minorities have been recruited in government services, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
Although Singh did not give exact figures about the recruitments.
He also said that guidelines have already been issued from time to time to give special consideration to minorities in recruitment.
There are about 50 lakh central government employees.
