Nassscom today appointed Cyient founder and Executive Chairman BVR Mohan Reddy as Chairman of the Executive Council (its governing body) for 2015-16. He succeeds Cognizant India Executive Vice Chairman R Chandrasekaran.
Reddy will take over from April 9.
The Executive Council also elected Tech Mahindra CEO and MD CP Gurnani as Nasscom Vice Chairman for 2015-16.
"We have many opportunities and challenges ahead of us. While currency fluctuation is a challenge, we also have huge opportunities in front with the technology disruptions that we are seeing and the Government's thrust on deploying more IT," Reddy told PTI.
Asked about his focus, Reddy said he would work on a more "inclusive" Nasscom, which would include the voices of not just the top tier IT firms, but SMEs and start-ups as well.
"We will invite two SMEs to become a part of the Executive Council. Also, there will be representation from SMEs on the seven councils that we have for products, BPM, engineering and R&D and Internet and eCommerce," he said.
Reddy added that following the addition of the new members, Nasscom's Executive council would have 27 members.
Nasscom represents the over USD 100 billion Indian IT-BPM industry. With more than 1800 members, it has representation from players across software services, software products, consulting services, BPM, e-commerce and web services, engineering services and animation and gaming.
