The 35-day-long 'Nyay Yatra' led by Forum for Fast Justice concluded at Jantar Mantar on March 4 after the activists made their way through 180 districts of 22 states while clocking around 17,000 KM. It was followed by a two-day convention here.
At the national convention, the group, chaired by Bhagvanji Raiyani, and which also has among its top leaders anti-ragging activist Raj Kachroo, passed a resolution setting an 8-month deadline for the government for initiating judicial reforms.
"To connect the country's masses with this nationwide movement, we are setting up over 100 centres named 'Society For Fast Justice' suffixed by the name of the particular cities," a spokesperson of the forum said.
Noted jurists, including top judges, received the marchers in the states during the yatra, which Raiyani said was undertaken after they received a "cold" response from the government and the opposition parties whom they have been approaching since 2008.
Copies of the resolution, which will contain several other demands for fast tracking the judicial process, will be sent to top authorities including the President, Prime Minister, Law Ministers at Centre and in states, all MPs, High Court and Supreme Court Judges among others.
