Governor of Haryana and Punjab Kaptan Singh Solanki today paid obeisance at the Golden Temple and offered floral tributes at the historic Jallianwala Bagh here, a day after assuming the additional charge of Governor of Punjab state.

Besides visiting the site of martyrdom of the people who died in the 1919 massacre, he also paid a visit to the Durgiana Temple.
It was Solanki's maiden visit to the holy city after taking oath as the Governor of Punjab.
At the Golden Temple, he was greeted by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Avtar Singh Makkkar and other functionaries of the top sikh religious body.
Solanki took round of the marbled periphery to pay obeisance inside the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine.
He was honoured by SGPC secretary, who presented him with a shawl, a model of the Golden Temple and a set of religious books.
Talking to reporters, Solanki said that it was a thanksgiving visit to the holy place and to obtain the blessings of the Almighty so that he could discharge his responsibilities according to the Constitutional rules assigned by the Constitution of India for the Governor.
Replying to a query regarding his future plans for Punjab, the Governor said that Punjab is one of the most important states in India, as it produces a large share of foodgrains required to meet the needs of Indians, and the "farmers of Punjab have the grit, determination and capacity to produce enough foodgrains for the entire Asia."
The Governor along with his wife visited the historic Jallianwala Bagh and placed floral wreaths at the Flame of Liberty.
Later, Solanki paid obeisance at Durgiana Temple and was honoured by the members of the Durgiana Trust.
