Soldiers on Manipur border action attacked by leeches:Parrikar

Indian soldiers, who had gone on a "revenge" operation on Manipur border last month, came back unhurt, though some of them complained of being attacked by leeches in the jungle areas, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said.
"Some days back there was an operation on the border. 18 soldiers of the 6 Dogra Regiment were attacked by terrorists and were martyred. In the revenge (operation), not a single soldier was injured," he told party workers last here evening.
"However, two to three (soldiers) came to me with complaints that they were attacked by leeches while returning through the jungles," he said referring to the Myanmar strike.

Indian soldiers had gone on the mission to track down militants responsible for the killing of 18 Dogra Regiment soldiers near the Manipur border last month. The surgical strike was carried out in Myanmar, though the Myanmar government subsequently denied the claim.
Using the analogy of leeches to attack the erstwhile scam-tainted Congress government in Goa, the former state Chief Minister said, "Goa was plagued by leech-like Congress.
