Som Parkash is only 'crorepati' candidate from Phagwara seat

Som Parkash Kainth, the BJP candidate from Phagwara (reserve), is the only 'crorepati' candidate from the Assembly seat.
In the affidavit submitted to local SDM cum Returning Officer Balbir Raj Singh today during filing of his nomination, he mentioned his and his spouse's movable and immovable property as worth over Rs 2.90 crore.
Of which, the movable property of both is worth Rs 70 lakh while their immovable property is worth Rs 2,20,96,000.
The immovable property included a bungalow in Mohali worth Rs two crore and a plot in Phagwara worth Rs 20,96,000.
While the bungalow is in the name of Som Parkash, the plot is owned by his spouse Anita Som Parkash.
The other assets included FDs, postal funds, saving deposits, jewellery and a car.
Som Prakash has Rs 5,200 as cash-in-hand while his wife has Rs 11,500 in cash.
Sahil Kainth, son of Som Parkash, filed his nomination as his covering candidate.
Som Parkash represents Phagwara and is re-contesting from here.
Other six candidates who filed their nominations on the last day today are Surinder Dhanda of BSP, his nephew Sandip Dhanda as his covering candidate, Tulsi Ram Khosla of BSP (Ambedkar), Ashwani Sahota of Yuva Vikas Morcha, Tirath Ram Nahar of Bahujan Mukti Morcha, his son Deepak Nahar as his covering candidate.
