Congress President Sonia Gandhi has told the government to ensure that the common man is not affected by the crisis in the economy at a time when the slide of rupee is causing concern all around.

Party spokesman Raj Babbar told reporters that the party chief wanted the government to see that the common man does not get hit in the unfolding economic scenario.

'You want to give numbers to him, before he makes a statement', he remarked when asked whether the serious crisis in the economy showed the economist-turned-Prime Minister has failed in his job.
