Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said it is very important to make government offices efficient and transparent to keep the faith of people in the system intact.
Releasing books on RTI and Training Needs of Civil Service Officers and Secretariat Staff here, Sonowal said the books will help identify the training needs of officers and enable them to deliver their duty more efficiently.
He said RTI is a very powerful tool in the hands of the people and all government officials should have thorough knowledge of RTI so that they can impart their knowledge to others.
The Chief Minister said Secretariat is the nerve-centre of all administrative works and Secretariat staff should work diligently and transparently so that all district and sub-division level offices are inspired to carry out their work in the same spirit.
He stated that timely action on people's applications is very important to maintain their faith in the government.
The Chief Minister expressed happiness that the Assam Administrative Staff College has brought out the books within 100 days of the new BJP-led government in the state and hoped the Training Needs Analysis will help in making both the Assam Civil Service and Secretariat staff more efficient in performing their duties.
He also called for compassion and humility among officials towards the common people who come to government offices seeking various services so that good governance is maintained at all levels.
The books - Training Needs Analysis Report of Secretariat Staff 2016, Training Needs Analysis Report of Assam Civil Service Officers 2016 and Books on RTI in English, Bodo and Bengali have been brought out by the Assam Administrative Staff College here as part of the 100 days task completion agenda of the state government.
