Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today ordered a judicial inquiry into the arrest of a Special Task Force sub-inspector Dipali Barua on charges of corruption and related misdoings.
"Retired Judge of Gauhati High Court Justice Biplob Kumar Sarma will conduct the inquiry and submit his report to the government," an official release said.
A case has already been registered against the sub- inspector Baruah and six other accomplices, including police personnel, it said.
The group allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from a person for disposing of a pending case against him.
