Sonowal sets deadline for Barak Valley road projects

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today set November 15 as the deadline for completion of ongoing road construction projects in the three districts of Barak Valley.
He said good roads are vital for smooth commute and the ongoing projects should be executed expeditiously for the benefit of people.
The chief minister was chairing a review meeting on the status of PWD road projects in the valley.
"All stakeholders involved in the construction work should ensure that the projects are completed on or before November 15, ahead of the Namami Barak festival," he said.
The chief minister also directed the deputy commissioners of the three districts to remove the bottlenecks that were delaying the projects after consultations with forest officials and contractors.

Sonowal asked PWD minister Parimal Suklabaidya to keep a close watch on the ongoing work and said that he would review the progress after 15 days.
The state government was committed to transform the Barak valley region to a potential economic hub, he said and urged the administration officials at the meeting to play an important role in bringing business to the region.
The review meeting was attended by deputy speaker of state Legislative Assembly, Dilip Kumar Paul, MLAs of the region, deputy commissioners, senior police officials, PWD and forest officials along with contractors associated with the projects.
