Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today directed the Sports and Youth Welfare Department to implement the playground development scheme under Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY), an official release said.
Sonowal asked the officials to implement the scheme immediately with starting of two pilot projects in Kamrup Metropolitan and Kamrup districts.
This will be subsequently extended in all the districts of the state, it added.
Underlying the need for generating favourable environment for promoting sports talents of rural areas, the chief minister directed the department to organise sports events at the three levels of the panchayati raj system. covering children and youths of 8-30 years of age.
